A Word a Week Photography Challenge: ”Garden”
I finally got around to process some images I made in British Columbia after attending the Ironman Canada event. I captured so many images at the triathlon that I guess I was photoed out after. Thanx Sue for the kick in the butt I needed to get to those pictures!
Following the event, we spent a few days in Vancouver to recover and discover. During that time, we made a day trip to Victoria, City of Gardens. Actually, we did not get to see much of Victoria as the time to ferry out and back into Vancouver was longer than expected, certainly long enough for me to play some old favorites on a Guitar Hero 3 coin-op arcade machine for nostalgia’s sake. In the end, we had just sufficient time to quickly tour the Butchart Gardens, where most of the pictures were taken, and for a single beer sitting on a terrace overlooking the Victoria harbor.
The lighting conditions were very contrasty as we went early afternoon on a day with hardly a cloud in the skies. Consequently, I made most of the images from HDR tonemappings of various exposures from single RAW files to overcome this limitation.
A gallery with all pictures from that day is available below. And just for fun, how many Canadian flags can you count in the last picture of the gallery?
Equipment: Canon DSLR 5D Mk II, Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L lens, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L lens, RAW conversion using Lightroom 4.1
