I went to the La virée des ateliers annual event, literally ”tour of the workshops” in French, at the Grover building in Montreal. The place used to be a textile manufacturing plant but as activities slowed down, artists have started to rent studio space about 20 years ago. Now, the entire building is rented out mostly to artists and it holds an open house type event once a year for the general public to visit, shop and discuss with the artists.

It feels really good to see that the artistic community of Montreal is so vibrant with so much to offer. Jewels, fashion, painting, visual artistry, photographs and many other artistic endeavors are on display. I included a picture gallery of some of the displays and artwork which caught my eye.

The building itself is quite interesting to explore with endless corridors forming which feels at times like a maze. I really enjoyed the tour and as a bonus, found a gift for Mother’s Day which is certainly not industrially-made!

Equipment: Canon DSLR 5D Mk II, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS lens, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX lens, RAW conversion using Lightroom 4.1
